Aptar today released its 2019 Corporate Sustainability Report. The 2019 Sustainability Report highlights Aptar’s extensive sustainability initiatives that have been implemented across its global operations. As in previous reports, Aptar summarizes several milestones measured and achieved in three key areas of people, planet and product.

In 2019, Aptar signed the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, joining forces with other businesses and governments committed to changing how plastic is produced, used and reused. Since the last report, Aptar also formalized its Science Based Targets, pledged its support to the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative. Aptar is committed to increasing the usage of post-consumer recycled resin (PCR) and researching additional opportunities for more sustainable resins and the recyclability of its products. Aptar’s aspirations, safety programs, societal impact of products and community outreach initiatives are also featured in the report.

“At Aptar we are proud to live our purpose and fulfill our responsibility to society. The actions we take, and the products and solutions we provide, play an important role in improving everyday life for patients and consumers around the world,” said Stephan Tanda, Aptar President and CEO. “It is essential that we advance even more sustainable dispensing and active packaging solutions that transform and enhance the user experiences and in some cases even save lives.”

The 2019 Sustainability Report is based on the Global Sustainability Reporting (GRI) Standards: Core Options, as released in October 2016. In preparing the report, Aptar obtained limited external assurance for absolute energy metrics, carbon emissions and renewable energy purchases, and achieved ISO 14064 certification for the management of this carbon accounting. Aptar also responds to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Investor Climate Change, Supply Chain and Water questionnaires each year.

To minimize paper waste, Aptar encourages readers to view the Corporate Sustainability Report digitally on our website under Sustainability, or by clicking on or typing the following link www.aptar.com/sustainability_report.
