Aptar Prepares to Launch New ERG for LGBTQ+ Community

Creating an inclusive culture within Aptar, globally, takes all of our efforts and individual leadership. It requires each member of the organization to think beyond boundaries and expand our reach to create diverse work environments.

As we continue with our DEI roadmap initiatives, we are announcing the launch of the next Employee Resource Group (ERG), which will be for the LGBTQ+ community within Aptar. This community includes those who identify as LGBTQ+ as well as Allies of LGBTQ+. Allies help to amplify unheard voices, call out barriers and biases that can inhibit progress and act as role models in their commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Allies and members of this ERG will help to advocate for individual and structural change.

The purpose of the LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) is to ensure that employees who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ), and non-binary are comfortable in bringing their whole selves to work, can express their individuality and share experiences while contributing to an inclusive work environment.

As with ALIGN, Aptar’s first ERG, this group will have alignment with business/segment initiatives as well as employee development and employee engagement. Participation in the ERG is voluntary and a leadership team will be formed to work closely with the Executive Sponsor, CHRO and the Global Diversity & Inclusion Director. Best practices from previous employee resource groups will be leveraged for a smooth and effective launch.

This past June, Aptar also broadened our support of the LGBTQ+ community with increased hands-on action for Pride Month with activities at various sites. These activities included changing of the APTAR logo externally, increased presence on social media supporting PRIDE Month, launching D&I in My Coffee Series and selling company supported PRIDE logo clothing/paraphernalia at various sites, with proceeds going to charitable organizations.

ALIGN led our first DEI Week which highlighted employees around the world and how they are bringing awareness and education in diversity, equity and inclusion.
